Small Format Art Samples
I thought I'd share with you some of the small format art I have been working on over the past few weeks. I've been putting all those pages of Gelli printed paper to good use with them. A couple of these are recycled CDs that I have turned into art magnets. The set that have the sayings "Just Be" and Let Loose And Just Play" are bookmarks. "When I Snap" is an ACEO/ATC. All are available for sale.

New(ish) Art Journal Pages
I thought you might enjoy seeing some fairly recent journal pages I created. These are all done in my small Strathmore journals (5.5" X 8").
Free Funky Images For Your Artful Pleasure!
Seems it is time, once again, to share some more free images that you can use in your artful endeavors.
This time, the images shown are scans from some of my original art from days gone by. If you know me at all, you know I love to re-use my art images in new art projects, creating whole new one-of-a-kind pieces. I am a firm believer that you don't have to reinvent the wheel every time you sit down to create something. Make use of your original art over and over again by scanning it at high resolution and saving it to a directory for future use. Believe me, if you start doing this you'll never be at a loss for an image when you need it.
Anyway, here are a few for you to have fun with. Just right click on the image to save it to your own computer. You are welcome to use these images in anything you create. I only ask that if you make something that you sell or publish, that you cite credit for the use of the image.
As always, if you'd like to share images of what you make with these, I would love to see them!

Third Generation Gelli Plate Printing Tutorial
Hi again everyone. I finally had time to do some more printing with my Gelli Plate to complete my experiment with doing multiple generations of prints from an original. You can see my previous posts from March 7 and March 9 for the history on this project.
Basically, I wanted to see how far from the original images I could get by scanning some Gelli-printed papers and making subsequent generations of printing. In each case I took the page and scanned it and printed it on a color laser printer and then took it back to do more Gelli-printing on that new page to create yet another generation. Sound confusing? Perhaps the photos will explain.
In each series, going from left to right, you'll see the first generation print, then the second and finally the third. I stopped at three for fear of making these prints too muddy to be used. Yes, occasionally I do exercise a bit of restraint, hard as that is to believe.
This really opens up lots of possibilities of what you can do with your Gelli-printed papers just by scanning them for future use. And I always love discovering ways to re-use my art without having to reinvent the wheel every time.

A Simple Journal Page With Gelli-Printed Paper - Part 2
Hello again, everyone. This post is a follow up to the one I did on March 15, where I showed you a simple journal page using one of the bazillion Gelli-printed pages I had made recently. Here is another one and it is my hope that these pages will inspire you.
The Gelli-printed paper I used for this page was on typing paper (flimsy stuff only a bit stronger than tissue but wonderful to use in mixed media work because it almost melts into the background). I glued it into my Strathmore Mixed Media journal (5.5 X 8) using a glue stick. I just ripped the excess paper that was overhanging the edges of the page for a rough, unfinished look (doesn't show in photo below).
Next I outlined the faint white hearts you can see in the image with black ink. Then I cut out a heart from contrasting Gelli-printed paper and glued it to the page. It was outlined with black ink too and a sentiment added to it.
After a bit of dithering about where to go from here with this page, I added a couple more of those hearts (cut from yet another different paper) and outlined them with black ink.
And lastly, I added some more small heart images and the central vintage image of the couple to go with the sentiment. I often work this way, deciding on the sentiment first before having the main image to go with it. Other times, I have the image I want to use and come up with the sentiment to match.
As with the last post, another easy peasy art journal page. Hope you're not sick of hearing me drone on about Gelli plate printed papers. They really are SO much fun!
